Right after the second world war, the Jewish Community of Leiden obtained a number of  parochot that once belonged to other kehillot which have vanished completely. In 1984 the board of the Leiden Community decided to conserve and restore these parochot, together with some of the original Leiden parochot. The Jewish Community received financial support from several sources and completed the restoration in 1990. The rich illustrated book “Leidsche Parochot” describes the restoration process and explains the iconographic and technical details of the parochot, including their history.
